Our veterans hall became a warming center
Site Administrator · Fargo, ND · May 30, 2026
To the Editor,
When temperatures dropped to twenty below, VFW Post 785 opened its doors as an overnight warming center. Veterans, church groups, and high school volunteers staffed cots and served chili.
No press conference, no ribbon cutting—just cots, coffee, and dignity. One guest told me it was the first warm sleep he'd had in a week. We can do hard things when we decide nobody freezes on our watch.
